Over the years, Trent Mitchell has been the driving force of Jazzhead...The Lion.

The man lays down some wicked, wicked bass grooves. Jazzhead gigs have been known to be "hard drummer gigs" because Mitchell's bass grooves are so wicked that you better have your chops together, your ears open, and a bottle of Gatorade handy.

Most likely he learned some of that from the great Miroslav Vitous, when he was studying with him at the New England Conservatory of Music. And and you can bet he learned more of it in his studies at the University of Michigan (music major) with Stuart Sankey, and Robert Gladstone (Detroit Symphony Orchestra-Principal Contrabass), as well as with the great Victor Bailey.
